Liturgies, communion services, guided meditations

At OCW we believe it is very important that Christian ritual continues to be practiced, by individuals and in groups.

For many reasons, including the exclusion of women, many now feel unable to participate fully in the Mass. Here we offer a range of rituals and meditations to download for your use.

Let us know if you come across any really special liturgies which we can add to our list.

Reflections on the Spiritual Life

Catholic and Feminine perspective:

Eucharistic Ecology and Ecological Spirituality By Beatrice Bruteau

"Spiritual life, especially as contemplative life, follows a kind of cycle, or spiral, in which we first leave "the world," which is experienced as interfering with our contemplation. We "go apart for a while," even far apart from the world, from everything formed and finite, everything that can be spoken or conceived. We follow the via negativa, the way of not-using, not-speaking, not-knowing. We aspire to, and may eventually enjoy, the apophatic experience. ........" (Source: website)

Thoughts On Solitude By Loretta Ross-Gotta

"The definition of recollection is quiet tranquillity of mind and self-possession. Recollection is the gentle art of prayerful gathering-in in preparation for deeper prayer. One calls back the scattered, fragmented self, strewn about one's world like trash on a windy day. I pick up the pieces, sweep out the psychic debris, reorder the clutter, and create at the center - wholeness. All within me that is frantic and frayed, dispersed helter-skelter, leaving me anxious, confused, and overwhelmed is drawn back. I am no longer like a cracked and broken bowl that leaks and spills its contents, but I am mended and suitable once again for holding my life, for containing safely and serviceably who I am......" The Work of the Heart By Steve Goodier

"For several years I have saved a touching piece written by teacher, Beth Nelson. She reminds us of the satisfaction gained by doing the "work of our hearts." Let me give children the healing knowledge That there is a better way, a more beautiful way To live each day of their lives....." (Source: website)
